HIV results only a fingerprick away
On the first episode of the popular Channel 4 show Embarrassing Bodies Series 2, Dr Christian Jessen from the Regents Park Clinic, Harley Street demonstrated for the first time live the INSTI HIV test.
The test works by taking a sample of blood from the patient’s finger and within one minute the test results were then available to the patient.
Though the test is 'rapid' at providing results, it is still an antibody test, so it is advisable to wait three months before taking it.
Doctorcall also offers different types of HIV tests which can pick up the infection earlier.
Dr Christian said “the rapid INSTI test allows us to provide our patients immediately with the results of their HIV test. No one wants to add to the anguish of waiting any longer than absolutely necessary for HIV results. The INSTI test provides peace of mind to out patients that they can leave the clinic having had the test and received the results.”
