Swine Flu 8th May 2009

Current Situation
We remain at Level 5 alert, and there have now been a number of outbreaks in the UK.
The good news is that, as we predicted the strain has become less powerful than before, and is now quite similar to a normal human influenza virus, able to transmit like a normal human influenza virus but without the virulence.
Supply of Tamiflu
Doctorcall are delighted to inform you that we can now supply you and your staff with Tamiflu for the total cost of £70. This includes:
• Prescription
• Tamiflu tablets
• Dispensing costs
The process is simple, we send you a prescription request form and upon receiving the completed prescription request form, (subject to patient suitability) we will dispatch the tablets to the address provided.
Developments
Our current recommendations are for employees to contact their GP or NHS Direct on 0845 4647 if they develop symptoms of flu, and for you to put in place your strategies for business continuity.
The situation is still developing, and no-one knows for certain what will happen. We currently predict that we are likely to see quite widespread flu, unusual at this time of year. However, if a high proportion of the population are not exposed to swine flu now, immunity will not be developed and it may return with a vengeance in the Autumn when the weather conditions become more conducive to it spreading.
