Cellulite

Cellulite is not related to being overweight - average and underweight people also get cellulite. Dieting does not get rid of the dimpled appearance, but a balanced diet and exercise may help a little.

Between 85% and 98% of post-adolescent females display some degree of cellulite. It is prevalent in women of all races but is more common in Caucasian females than in Asian. There appears to be a hormonal component to its presentation.

Cellulite is not related to being overweight - average and underweight people also get cellulite. Dieting does not get rid of the dimpled appearance, but a balanced diet and exercise may help a little.

Cellulite occurs when deposits of fat collect below the surface of the skin. Instead of sleek, smooth thighs and buttocks, you will see a dimpling effect which at first makes the affected area look like orange peel but which may lead to much deeper marks as cellulite tends to be progressive, worsening gradually over time.

Unfortunately, once the fat deposits have formed, they are very difficult to get rid of. Treating the surface of your skin is not effective because the cause of the problem is deeper. Equally, attempts to dissolve the deposits by a change of diet or even the most determined exercise regime won’t produce any impact (though it may help you in other ways!).
