We offer cervical smears at our London and Manchester clinics using the slightly more accurate Liquid based cytology (Thin Prep) rather than conventional slide based screening.

You also have the option to be tested for HPV infection (the high risk types of which are responsible for abnormalities in the cervical cells) at the same time.

Results will take 3 working days for routine smears, 5 days for HPV screening.

It is very simple to perform a full sexual health screen at the same time if you feel you have been at any risk of infection and we are more than happy to discuss this at your appointment.

Statistics show that a woman’s risk of cervical cancer is cut by 84% if she has a smear test every five years and 91% if she has a smear every three years. Some recommendations suggest women should have annual smear tests to reduce the risk even further (an additional 1- 2%).

In the UK, the NHS screening programme is for all women aged 25 to 64 to have a screen every 3 years.
