How much does Tamiflu cost?
The cost of one course of treatment, for one person, is £50 which includes the administration required to prescribe, label and dispense it - a small fraction of the cost of private health insurance or many other benefits offered to staff.
Tamiflu remains usable for five years so you have protection until 2012.
Who should you protect?
This will depend on the nature of your organisation, your attitude to
your staff, your budget – and even the family circumstances of your employees.
Ideally, you would protect everyone – and their families too. This is important because if a family has only one pack between them, you may find your employee gives it to a family member and does not have it available for their own use. A standard way to resolve this is to offer it free of charge to employees and to allow them to buy it at the same cost, or even at a subsidised rate, for immediate family members.
But it may be that you could only afford to protect key staff.
