About us
Doctorcall was founded in 1989 by Dr Charles Levinson who was concerned about the lack of provision for London residents needing prompt medical treatment, who often faced a wait of several hours in the Accident & Emergency Departments of a hospital, or a delay of several days before they could make an appointment with a GP.
He was also concerned about visitors to London , who were far from their own doctor, and had no option but to wait while the hotel rang a local doctor and he or she could find the time for a visit, or be packed off to A&E which could be a very unfamiliar and alarming experience for people from abroad.
A new high-quality service
To remedy the situation Doctorcall created a service which provided a private doctor in a hour across London , whether to someone's home, workplace, or hotel.
From the beginning the emphasis was on providing high-quality treatment and this commitment to quality has never been compromised - in time Doctorcall became the first rapid response visiting doctor service in London to be approved by the Healthcare Commission, the government's regulator of the quality and value of medical treatment in UK. To this date, no other similar service has won this accolade.
The Doctorcall Clinic
In 1992, Doctorcall opened a private clinic providing private GP consultations and health screens for individuals and companies. Today the Clinic is located in Harley Street W1, in the centre of London 's medical heartland, where it has advanced on-site facilities for testing and diagnosis to give rapid results so treatment can begin quickly.
Cosmetic Clinic
In 1996, Doctorcall opened a clinic providing cosmetic treatment, called the Lifestyle Clinic, which thrived and is today based in Harley Street offering a range of non-invasive cosmetic treatment, including reduction of unwanted hair, cellulite treatment, removal of skin lesions and threadveins and skin rejuvenation.
Occupational Health Services
In 1998 Doctorcall began offering Occupational Health services throughout the UK , creating flexible programmes that enable organisations to achieve their aims in a focused and cost-effective way. Today Doctorcall provides programmes for a wide variety of clients ranging from multinationals to businesses with only a handful of employees.
Flu vaccination service
In 1999 Doctorcall created a mobile flu vaccination service, providing vaccinations for employees on companies' premises. We have vaccinated over 500,000 people in the past five years and were the first company to enable major high street retailers like Asda and Boots to offer vaccinations in-store to their customers.
Sexual Health Clinics
In 2005 Doctorcall acquired the Regents Park Sexual Health Clinic which specialises in the investigation and treatment of sexual infections. The Clinic had been founded in 1985 to provide a discrete and effective alternative to NHS services and was the first private clinic of its kind in the UK . Today, the Clinic is located in Harley Street where it provides much quicker appointments and speedier results than hard-pressed NHS clinics can provide.
