Doctorcall

As the year draws to a close, so comes the season for resolutions and gym memberships. If you’re planning to start the new year by making health and fitness your priority, why not take a look at the benefits of our brand-new membership app, giving you access to a doctor 24/7 throughout the whole of London. More importantly, it is available at a push of a button and doesn’t require going to a gym. Do we need to say more?

We are excited to be entering 2020 by announcing the launch of our brand-new app, the first of its kind, granting you access to a doctor 24/7.

With the everyday constraints of life, it is not always easy to take the much-needed time out to look after your health, especially when it comes to booking an appointment with a doctor – and then carving out the time to make the trek to your GP.

Advances in technology such as virtual doctor consultations help to address this, but they are not always perfect for urgent care. A personal visit is sometimes unbeatable.

That’s why we are proud to bring you an exciting combination of our 24/7 visiting doctor service and the fast convenience of virtual access – packaged in our unique membership app, DoctorCall.

This means you can take advantage of the vast benefits of your membership at a push of a button – including priority, affordable access to our range of rapid services available throughout London.

Get exclusive discounts and 24/7 access

Putting your convenience at the heart of what we do means that you can give your health the much-needed attention it needs, without having to worry about how it can fit in with the busy demands of life. If you live in London especially, we are certain this requires no further explanation.

By signing up for membership, you gain exclusive access to affordable medical cover, with the benefit of guaranteed, prioritised coverage, exclusive discounts on consultations and health screens, seasonal health promotions, and 24/7 access – all accessible via DoctorCall.

This includes priority access to our 24 hours a day, 7 days a week visiting doctor service throughout the city – meaning at-the-fingertip bookings for one of our experienced GPs to visit you, wherever and whenever it best suits you.

Members also benefit from an exclusive 30% discount on all GP consultations and health screens at our London clinics.
Using the app means you can also keep track of fees and the estimated time of arrival of your doctor, or choose to book for a time in the future – at your convenience.

Want to sign up?

Download our brand-new app, DoctorCall, to unlock your membership benefits today – including round-the-clock access to a doctor, discounts and exclusive priority bookings.

At a cost of only £20 per month, our visiting doctor membership is a considerably less expensive way of making sure that your health remains priority and care can always remain a push of a button away.

We are pleased to announce we will be attending this year’s IAG Forum (23-25 October 2019) in Rome; and ITIC Global 2019 (27-31 October 2019), a global gathering of the travel and health insurance community, taking place in Malta.

Founded in 1989 as the UK’s first visiting doctor service, Doctorcall is now the longest-established provider of private home visiting medical services for international visitors to the UK. Working directly with offices in countries all over the world, Doctorcall is proud to be the preferred medical services provider for many of the world’s leading international assistance companies – including the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, and China.

This year, Doctorcall is proud to announce its participation at two leading international events designed to bring industry experts and professionals together, offering delegates a platform to engage and connect from across the globe.

Hosted by the International Assistance Group (IAG), the 33rd IAG Forum will bring together the IAG’s accredited service providers and partners across five different continents – to explore the exciting developments inside the world of medical, travel and roadside assistance.

A key part of the three-day event is the IAG Awards, celebrating key achievements in Quality, Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Marketing Excellence. Taking place on day two, the winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony, where Doctorcall will this year be part of the audience eagerly awaiting the results, as its latest project – a virtual call centre for doctors – battles other high-calibre submissions for the top spot of the 2019 IAG Innovation Award. Doctorcall’s innovative system, described as the first fully-functioning virtual call centre for doctors, has been designed to replace call handlers and take human error and delay out of the equation. It has now successfully handled over 10,000 cases.

Doctorcall will also be joining other businesses and industry experts in October at the 27th annual ITIC Global, a conference and global gathering for the travel and health insurance industry. With over 900 attendees, the event provides industry professionals with a chance to network, discuss shared challenges and develop partnerships on an international scale.

Dr Charles Levinson, founder of Doctorcall, said:

We are delighted to be participating in this year’s IAG Forum and ITIC Global, designed to bring people and industry professionals from across all corners of the globe together – giving them a unified platform to build relationships and share knowledge from across the world. Within the current political climate, they provide a great opportunity to establish those important global connections.

Doctorcall is the longest and leading provider of private home visiting medical services for international visitors to the UK – seeing 10,000 patients a year, 40% of which are foreign nationals. Their visiting doctor service can provide private home visits twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the London region.

Serving assistance companies from around the world, each with differing cultural needs, Doctorcall are proud to be accredited as UK service provider to the IAG.

Doctorcall has developed the first fully-functioning virtual call centre for doctors. Our system replaces call handlers, so patients and clients can log in and place calls directly into our system, seeing all the information including ETAs, doctor-tracking and real-time medical reports. The system is designed so that you do not need to identify yourself or re-agree our terms and conditions: All you need to do is
log in, see what we can do to help and log your case including any specific instructions; we do the rest. Our system is smart so it learns from every case it handles.
It has now handled over 10,000 cases, so it is already
more experienced than our most experienced call handlers.

Objectives

Our aim was to take human error and delay out of the equation and to use the experience of every case to enhance the handling of the next case so we could model the behaviour of the best call handlers to optimise case management.
In addition, we wanted to add new capability including prevailing traffic and remembering detailed specific instructions for thousands of different clients and patients.

Resources

We raised significant funds to develop a system designed to replace much of our back office. We identified a brilliant software developer who had relevant experience in logistics and an excellent record for innovation, but who was - unfortunately for us - based in Russia. We booked out our best administrators and doctors and we brought the software team over from Russia and worked closely with them on a first draft of the system. We then ran it alongside our existing systems whilst we fine-tuned it and eventually turned it on to replace the existing systems.

Impact

The results have been transformative: Providing instant accurate ETAs, real-time reports and identifying delays early to start pulling in back-up doctors has made our service far smoother and more efficient. We have now put over 10,000 patients through the system and they have been handled more efficiently than before. We still have a 24/7 team of administrators to manage exceptions but we have nevertheless been able to reduce staff numbers and to pass significant savings on to our Assistance Company clients: After decades of inflationary price increases, our prices have come down this year for the first time in our history.

Outcomes and Achievements

We now have a system that has distilled the knowledge and skill required to run a mobile urgent care service and we are in a position to roll it out to other territories. Medical innovation falls into a number of categories: Drugs, devices, surgical procedures, AI (Artificial Intelligence) doctors and AI doctors’ offices. Of these, our territory, AI doctors’ offices, is not the most glamorous but it makes a significant difference to healthcare delivery and we are proud to now be the leaders in it.

As per Oil & Gas UK (OGUK) regulations, there is a standard of fitness required by anyone working in the offshore and onshore industry. To meet these requirements, a medical examination is needed, which can only be carried out by an OGUK approved doctor.

Doctorcall can provide your employees with the medical assessments they need to meet the requirements of the Oil & Gas industry, ensuring their fitness to work within this specialist environment.

We offer a comprehensive range of assessments at our various clinics throughout the UK, including: OGUK Offshore Medicals, Netherlands Medical, ERT Medical, Crane Operators Medicals, Climbers Medicals, Confined Space Medicals, and Medicals for various countries.

Will your workers be based offshore?

One of the most popular medicals Doctorcall offers is the OGUK offshore medical, which is carried out in our London and Manchester clinics.

The purpose of an offshore medical is to assess workers and provide them with the required certification to be able to undertake offshore work as per current OGUK regulations.

An offshore medical certificate is valid for two years. All offshore workers in the Oil & Gas industry are required to have periodic assessments by an OGUK approved doctor, which prove their fitness to travel and work offshore without posing a risk to themselves or to others due to a medical condition.

What do Oil & Gas medical assessments involve?

The medical assessment consists of the following tests:

• Urinalysis
• BMI calculation
• Basic vision test
• Pulse and blood pressure measurement
• Lung function test (peak flow)
• Audiogram (hearing test)
• Consultation with a doctor

As part of our standard OGUK Oil & Gas medical assessment, we can also include a bi-deltoid shoulder measurement, required by those working in the North Sea. We can provide this as either an add-on or as a stand-alone service.

Once the medical is completed, results are generally available within an hour. We also provide relevant travel medicals and vaccinations and advice for those working overseas, with same day appointments available at our London and Manchester clinics.

Having an Oil & Gas Medical assessment is essential for workers in the industry.
At Doctorcall, we provide a quick, easy and comprehensive service, making sure that your workers have the proper medical certification to show that they are fit to work. Appointments are often available at short notice.
