RUK Wind Turbine Medicals

Doctorcall can provide industry recommended Wind Turbines Medicals (Medical Fitness to Work on near offshore and land based projects) for the renewable energy sector, also known as RUK medicals.

A comprehensive range of standardised testing is available at our clinics in London and Manchester.

The RUK medical has been developed because neither the MCA or the Oil & Gas UK medical certification schemes were designed to reflect the specific risks that are particular to the renewable energy sector.

What's Involved?

Following the assessment a certificate will be issued in accordance with Annex I of Issue 2 (2013) of RenewableUK Medical Fitness to Work.

A satisfactory medical certificate is valid for two years and combines the following tests as part of our examination process. Additional services are available on request.

  • Completion of Patient Questionnaire
  • Consultation with a doctor
  • Urinalysis – routine urine test with immediate result
  • BMI – measurement of height, weight and calculation of Body Mass Index
  • Visual acuity (near and distance) and visual fields test
  • Pulse and Blood Pressure Measurement
  • Lung Function Test (spirometry)
  • Audiogram (hearing test)
  • Chester Step Test

How long will the medical take?

The medical will last around 90 to 120 minutes. We aim to see you promptly so you're not waiting any longer than you need to be. Your appointment should start at the time you book it for.

Do I get my certificate on the day of my appointment?

Yes, as long as the doctor can deem you fit, we will provide you with the certificate at the end of your appointment to take away with you

How long is the certificate valid for?

The full certificate is valid for two years. You can renew your certificate with us by making an appointment in advance.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the appointment?

Please bring along a photo ID and arrive 15 minutes before the start of the appointment. If you have any medical conditions that may be relevant, please bring along information such as repeat prescriptions and specialist letters to help speed up the process

I need some extra tests

As your appointment will be with a GP we can usually acommodate a range of tests and services whether they are in relation to your medical or not. Once you have made your appointment you can let us know and we can add these on to your booking.
