Safety Critical Medicals

Safety Critical medicals is an umbrella term for various HSE mandated and advised types of medicals.

We offer a standard Safety Critical Medical, which includes the procedures outlined below, but they are also customisable. You can choose which aspects of the medical you would like or perhaps append it on to another type of medical, such as an Oil & Gas medical. To customise this medical and to get a price, please contact us.

What is a Safety Critical Medical

Our standard Safety Critical Medical includes the following components:

  • Current and previous medical history and/or treatment or ongoing treatment
  • Blood pressure check
  • Height, weight and BMI
  • Hearing test
  • Lung function test
  • Skin assessments
  • HAV assessments (if required)
  • Visual acuity and peripheral vision
  • Muscular-skeletal assessment
  • Night worker assessment
  • Drug testing

Some patients will may need an appointment for another type of medical, such as an oil & Gas medical or a Wind Turbine medical in which most of the above elements are already included. What is not included in those is:

  • Skin Assessments (if you need this, we can provide you with our standard questionnaire or we are happy to use yours if you have a different one).
  • HAVs assessments (if the patient works with vibrating tools – we use the standard HSE HAVs Tier 1 questionnaire).
  • Night Worker assessment (if you need this, we can provide you with our standard questionnaire or we are happy to use yours if you have a different one).
  • Drug testing (let us know if this is required. Please note, non-negative results will neither be released nor discussed with you until the full laboratory confirmation has been obtained.)
