Dancers – Screenings for Injury Prevention

Doctorcall City Physio has been working closely with dancers in Manchester since 2008. We have close affiliations with The Centre for advanced teaching in Dance at the Lowry, The Northern Ballet School on Oxford Road, The Palace Theatre on Oxford Road, Company Chameleon and the Manchester International Festival.

As a result of these affiliations City Physio has developed a physiotherapy screen designed to assess dancers and provide practical advice and exercises to minimise the risk of injury. Working closely with Alexandra Smith from Energy Flow fitness we have developed a series of flowing sequences that can be used as a warm up, or just an exercise routine that target the specific weaknesses we see occurring in the individual.

Our screens are applicable to all types of dance from the classical ballerina to the break dancers of FlexN or the contemporary dancers of Company Chameleon.

Dancers Screen - What's involved?

The screen involves taking a history of previous injuries and then a series of objective tests assessing muscle lengths, muscle strength, functional movement patterns, and stability. The screen, and then the resulting exercises takes approximately an hour. The fees for the screen are £76 and the location is our clinic located in Bannatynes Chepstow Street.

We offer prompt physiotherapy appointments, aiding you to a speedier recovery. Call now on 0844 257 0122, or book online.
