This means that Chlamydia was detected in your sample and indicates that infection with Chlamydia is present. The test is very accurate and false positive results are therefore unlikely.
Fortunately Chlamydia is easily treated with antibiotics. We can provide you with the appropriate antibiotic or you can take this result to your local GUM clinic and obtain treatment there.
It is very important that both you and your sexual partner receive treatment, ideally at the same time, to ensure that you do not re-infect each other.
Chlamydia infection clears rapidly with appropriate treatment and you can resume sexual activity 7 days after taking the antibiotic.
Please note that the chlamydia tests are very sensitive and can remain positive for up to 4 weeks after successful eradication.
If you would like to take a test of cure you need to wait at least 4 weeks after treatment before re-testing.
